Doctors of the World Expands Healthcare Services in Yemen, Somalia and Syria
The Doctors of the World Association has increased its healthcare service capacity in Yemen, Somalia and Syria by opening new centers and expanding facilities in its existing clinics.
Within the scope of its healthcare activities carried out for 26 years, the Doctors of the World Association has increased its service capacity in Yemen, Somalia and Syria. Thanks to newly opened health centers and expanded services, support specifically targeting maternal and child health is growing, while the association continues its work with a total of 10 clinics across 8 countries.
At the Al-Wafa Health Center in Yemen's Taiz city, pediatric and gynecology examinations, pregnancy tracking, delivery services and medication support are provided. In the poverty-stricken Maarib or Marib region, the new Almatar Health Center, where 14 healthcare personnel serve, has been opened; pediatric and gynecological examinations, pregnancy and postpartum tracking, ultrasound, laboratory, vaccination and medication support have begun to be offered here, thereby increasing the number of clinics in the country to two.
The Soran Health Center, which has been serving in Syria since 2018, has moved to its new building. In the center where maternal and child health, maternity ward, and dental health services are offered free of charge, medicines are provided free of charge. In addition, psychosocial health services are also provided through the Suluk Health Center and the newly opened Soran Mother and Child Health Center.
Primary healthcare services as well as maternal and child health services have been added to the Family Health Center opened in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, in 2019. While a wide range of services is offered from pregnancy tracking to delivery, pediatric and gynecological evaluations, therapeutic food support and nutritional treatments are administered to children under the age of five.
