Domestic 6G communication technology prototypes developed in cooperation with TÜBİTAK and Turkcell were successfully tested in the field at the test infrastructures in Turkcell Kartal Plaza and TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus.

Prototype Development Process

With the implementation of 5G in Turkey, studies regarding next-generation connectivity technologies have gained momentum. In this context, innovative network equipment based on smart surface technologies, which are the fundamental building blocks of 6G communication technologies, was developed at the prototype level.

Transition from Laboratory to Field

As a result of the joint R&D activities carried out, the studies were moved out of the laboratory environment and into the field at the test infrastructures in Turkcell Kartal Plaza and TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus. It was observed that signal performance increased to a remarkable extent.

Test Frequencies and Results

Prototypes belonging to different smart surface technologies developed by TÜBİTAK teams were tested at the commonly used 5G frequencies of 3.7 GHz and 26 GHz. Initial commercial tests for static and adaptive designs have been completed.

Evaluations by Executives

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın and Turkcell Executive Vice President for Network Technologies Vehbi Çağrı Güngör emphasized that the studies are of great importance for Turkey's 6G vision.
