Ebola outbreak in Congo spreads to eighth province
The rapidly spreading Ebola outbreak in Congo has reached the Nord-Ubangi province on the border with the Central African Republic, with total deaths exceeding 4,500.
The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recorded as the deadliest in the country's history, has spread to its eighth northern province, Nord-Ubangi. The Ministry of Health announced that two cases and one death have been registered in the region.
Officials reported that the world's fastest-spreading Ebola outbreak continues to outpace response efforts. It was stated that both patients identified in the Wapinda health zone in Nord-Ubangi province, located on the border of the Central African Republic, are males in their 20s.
With this development in the region, which neighbors Bas-Uele province where Ebola cases had been reported previously, the outbreak has spread to its eighth province. Since being declared in mid-May and holding the distinction of being the deadliest outbreak in the country's history, at least 9,400 cases and over 4,500 deaths have been recorded so far.
