The carbon footprint and eco-friendly transformation processes of the cinema and advertising industries were debated through the 'Green Sets Are Possible' panel held within the scope of the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. During the session held at the Antalya Cultural Center, the damages inflicted on nature by sets and sustainable production methods were brought to the table.
The 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival has begun taking steps to pioneer the industry with environmental sensitivity and social responsibility awareness. The festival management decided to reduce printed promotional materials starting from this year and opened the door to a sustainable transformation by starting to give special awards to eco-friendly projects within the scope of Film Forum. Organized in partnership with the Green Sets Are Possible Initiative, the "Future of Cinema - Climate-Focused Transformation in the Film Industry" panel brought together filmmakers, civil society representatives, and environmental experts at the Antalya Cultural Center.
During the session moderated by Yeşim Girgin, General Coordinator of 'Green Sets Are Possible', it was emphasized that it is of vital importance for individuals within the industry to internalize the issue. Dicle Tuba Kılıç, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Nature Association, pointed out the ecological sensitivity in the natural areas where sets are established and warned against potential damages. Mustafa Özgür Berke, Turkey Director of the European Climate Foundation, stated that 90 percent of society knows that climate change is human-induced, but gets stuck at the action stage. Alphan Eröztürk, Senior Manager at ÇEVKO, noted that the environmental success of productions should be measured by the traces left in nature when filming ends. Ekin İlyasoğlu, Project Manager of Green Sets Are Possible, pointed out that the advertising and communication industry generates 3 percent of global carbon emissions.
