Economic impact of quantum computers expected to begin in 2030
Quantinuum founder Ilyas Khan predicts that quantum technologies will begin to create real economic value starting in 2030. Stating that Turkey needs to take strategic steps in this field, Khan emphasized that the sector will develop in an integrated manner with artificial intelligence.
Quantinuum founder Ilyas Khan stated that quantum computers will reach a scale capable of providing practical benefits between 2030 and 2031, noting that this technology will play a transformative role in the global economy.
Ilyas Khan stated that the impact of quantum technologies on daily life could follow a faster process than artificial intelligence and produce tangible results in less than five years. According to Gartner data, global quantum computing revenues are expected to reach $1.1 billion in 2027, with the public sector projected to lead in these expenditures. From 2028 onwards, it is estimated that the banking, finance, and insurance sectors will surpass the public sector in spending.
Khan emphasized that the US is the leader in computing, while China is making progress in areas such as encryption and quantum communication. Stating that Turkey should include quantum technologies among its national priorities, Khan pointed out that many countries in Europe are taking strategic steps in this direction. Assessment: Khan predicts that quantum technologies will not replace artificial intelligence, but rather become a part of the existing computing infrastructure, assuming a complementary role in data centers.
