The Kırıkkale Municipality Fire Department organized a training session so that healthcare personnel can safely intervene in electric vehicle accidents.
Healthcare personnel in Kırıkkale were given safe intervention training against vital dangers that may arise in traffic accidents and fires involving electric vehicles. In the study organized by the Kırıkkale Municipality Fire Department, high-voltage systems and lithium batteries were explained to the teams.
The Kırıkkale Municipality Fire Department organized a training program to enable healthcare teams, who are the first to arrive at the scene in traffic accidents involving electric vehicles, to intervene safely. In the training given by Fire Chief Aydın Berçin, technical information was provided regarding the high-voltage systems, lithium batteries, and parts of electric vehicles that could pose a hazard after an accident. While healthcare teams were briefed on safety points they must pay attention to before approaching the injured, it was emphasized that risks such as electric shock and the reignition of batteries can persist even if the fire is extinguished or the vehicle is turned off.
The training also drew attention to the dangers that unconscious modifications made to vehicles can create. Fire Chief Berçin stated that they observed a citizen in the village of Karaahmetli interfering with a vehicle's high-voltage cables to provide electricity to a vineyard house, and an LPG system being installed on a hybrid vehicle in an industrial site in the city. Fire Department Manager Murat Özçelik and Fire Administrative Affairs Chief Arap Taplaktepe pointed out that risks emerging with developing technology can lead to fatal consequences due to lack of knowledge, and expressed the importance of coordinated action between the 112 Emergency Call Center and field teams.
