Three takeaways from Elon Musk's latest political donations

According to Federal Election Commission records, Tesla CEO Elon Musk made more than $200 million in donations in the quarter ending September 30 ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data, the majority of the donations were channeled to the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) Political Action Committee (PAC), which supports Republican Senate candidates. In this context, it was stated that $158 million was donated to the SLF.

It was noted that these funds were quickly directed to a group supporting Texas Republican Ken Paxton, who is running against Democratic candidate James Talarico. Musk also donated over $80 million to America PAC and $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC.

These donations are stated to reflect the moves of Elon Musk, who focuses on the state of Texas where he has moved his business empire, and are part of a broader trend of tech executives turning to the Republican Party to support light government regulations.
