Positioned in the company's official blog as its most powerful model to date, Gemini 4 Carbon was developed to tackle prolonged engineering processes and cybersecurity challenges. The model is equipped with capabilities to detect software vulnerabilities, test whether these vulnerabilities can be exploited, and assist in developing remediation patches.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai's X post announcing the model received a one-word comment from Elon Musk, another prominent figure competing in the artificial intelligence field. While Musk used the phrase "Impressive" in the post, Pichai responded with a folded hands emoji. Meanwhile, Google has initially made the Gemini 4 Carbon model available only to selected cybersecurity defenders under the "Fairwind Program," setting the pricing at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
