Elon Musk aims to take advanced artificial intelligence chip manufacturing to an unprecedented scale and reduce foreign dependence with the Terafab project, bringing together Tesla and SpaceX.

Details of the Terafab Project

Tesla and SpaceX have made an initial investment commitment of $16.8 billion for the Terafab facility planned to be established in Grimes County, Texas. The project brings together chip design, logic, and memory manufacturing required for autonomous vehicles and space-based data centers under a single roof.

Intel's Role in the Project

While Intel's participation in the project was confirmed in April, the company is deploying its 18A and 14A manufacturing processes in this process. This move is evaluated as a strategic step that could boost confidence in the financially struggling Intel Foundry division.
