Germany news: Hackers release AfD party emails

Germany's far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), announced that it is examining the publication on the internet of emails stolen by unidentified hackers during a cyberattack in September.

An AfD spokesperson stated that the hackers targeted a hosting provider used by the party and appeared to have copied data from a small, mostly inactive email account. The published materials include emails sent by prominent party figures such as co-leader Alice Weidel, as well as bank statements, academic certificates, and membership lists.

While the website hosting the materials went offline on Tuesday afternoon, a data volume of 281 gigabytes was visible on the site under the heading "The party's own records, unedited." The authenticity of the published content has not yet been verified by any independent organization.
