Eric Schmidt's Anthropic Stake is About Half as Much as CEO Dario Amodei's
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt reportedly owns about a 1% stake in the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic following a 2021 investment round.
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt reportedly secured a stake of about 1% in the AI startup Anthropic by investing tens of millions of dollars in a Series A funding round held in 2021. According to Bloomberg data, this proportion is roughly half of the 2% share held by the company's co-founder and CEO, Dario Amodei.
According to information reported by Bloomberg, PitchBook data recorded the startup's valuation at $461 million during the 2021 investment. While Anthropic is expected to go public before the end of the year, projections at the upper end of market estimates suggest the company's valuation could reach $2 trillion. It is stated that if this scenario occurs, it could contribute up to $20 billion to Eric Schmidt's wealth.
Assessment: Schmidt's other artificial intelligence investments outside of Anthropic include startups such as Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI. While upper-bound estimates regarding IPO expectations do not carry absolute certainty, they reflect market expectations.
