Excavation Work and Detentions in the Mehmet Çabuk Murder Investigation
Following the revelation that Mehmet Çabuk, missing for 10 years, fell victim to murder, bone fragments were found in an excavation started in Osmaniye; his ex-wife and mother-in-law were detained.
Following İbrahim Ozan Düzgün's confession to the murder in the Mehmet Çabuk murder file covered on the Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert program, bone fragments were found during excavation work launched in Osmaniye, and ex-wife İlknur Düzgün along with mother-in-law Selma Düzgün were detained.
The Mehmet Çabuk file, which had long been searched for on the Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert program, took a new dimension with a murder confession. Following statements indicating that Çabuk, who had been sought as missing for 10 years, was killed, bone fragments were reached in excavation work launched in Osmaniye, and it is assessed that these remains may belong to Mehmet Çabuk.
İlknur Düzgün claimed that her husband, İbrahim Ozan Düzgün, who is in prison for other crimes, committed the murder. İbrahim Ozan Düzgün confessed to the murder shortly after, stating to the prosecutor's office that they went from Ankara to Osmaniye on January 26, 2016, and the next day during a dispute between them, he caused Çabuk to lose his life by striking him on the head with a hard object and buried the body in the house's garden.
It was revealed in the investigation that a few days after the murder, İbrahim Ozan Düzgün and İlknur Düzgün held a wedding and got married in the garden of the house where Mehmet Çabuk was stated to have been buried. While a witness connecting to the live broadcast claimed that the back section of the garden was excavated under the pretext of building a pool, concrete was poured over it, and pigs were raised to suppress the smell, İlknur Düzgün denied this claim.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Osmaniye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Mehmet Çabuk's ex-wife İlknur Düzgün was taken into custody from the television studio, and his mother-in-law Selma Düzgün from the hotel where she was staying. Forensic medicine examinations and DNA matching processes continue to confirm the identity of the bone fragments found by the teams during the excavation work.
