Expert Trap for Vehicle Owners and Depreciation Compensation Warning
While sharing data from the Smart Expert Assignment System, TOBB SEİK President Ahmet Nedim Erdem called for caution against illegal structures committing fraud through depreciation compensation.
While sharing data on the Smart Expert Assignment System implemented across Turkey, important warnings were issued against illegal structures that commit fraud by obtaining vehicle owners' information after accidents.
Scope of the System and Data
Through the Smart Expert Assignment System, which was put into effect nationwide on August 1, a total of 195,656 files for traffic and casco insurance had experts assigned until October 9.
Partial damage files in traffic insurance constituted a large proportion of approximately 92 percent of the made assignments.
Development of the Practice
The pilot application of the system, developed by the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency, was first launched in the provinces of Bursa and Ordu.
Following the pilot application, the system's scope was expanded and it was actively put into effect nationwide as of August 1.
Methods of Illegal Structures
With the start of depreciation compensation payments within the scope of traffic insurance, organized structures emerged that obtained the information of right holders through unlawful methods after accidents.
It was determined that these individuals called citizens through call centers and introduced themselves as experts of official institutions.
Warnings Issued to Citizens
TOBB SEİK President Ahmet Nedim Erdem specifically emphasized that no insurance expert will call the insured directly and request a power of attorney.
It was stated that citizens must be careful and act prudently against such organized fraud attempts.
