Discovered in the direction of the Draco constellation, the white dwarf WD J1330+6435 glows in an unusual yellowish-green color due to chemical interactions in its atmosphere. The research proves that star colors depend not only on temperature but also on atmospheric composition.

Located in the Milky Way Galaxy in the direction of the Draco constellation, the white dwarf named WD J1330+6435 emits a yellowish-green light as a result of planetary debris in its vicinity interacting with its atmosphere.

According to the study published in the journal RAS Techniques and Instruments, rocky materials remaining from the planetary system around the star are mixing into the star's outer layers. Sodium found among these materials interacts with helium atoms in the star's dense atmosphere, altering the wavelengths of light absorbed by the sodium and causing the star to take on a greenish appearance.

In the study, which examined 151 white dwarfs within approximately 65 light-years of Earth, it was determined that some carbon-rich white dwarfs can appear in salmon pink or purple tones. This study on white dwarfs, which are the dense cores left behind at the end of the lives of Sun-like stars, reveals that star colors are directly related to chemical composition.
