FETO/PDY Operation in Izmir: 16 Suspects Detained

Within the scope of the investigation conducted against FETO/PDY in Izmir, simultaneous operations led to the capture of a total of 16 suspects, including 6 linked to the police clandestine structure and 10 evaluated as conducting propaganda via social media.

The operations carried out on October 20, 2026, under the coordination of the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were executed by teams from the Izmir Provincial Directorate of Security's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch and Intelligence Branch. During raids on 6 addresses identified in connection with the police clandestine structure, 6 suspects were detained, including 3 dismissed police officers and 1 active-duty teacher.

In another simultaneous operation targeting individuals assessed to have engaged in propaganda activities on behalf of the organization via social media platforms, 10 more suspects were captured. It was reported that the questioning of the total 16 detained suspects is ongoing at the Police Department building in Yesilyurt, and they are expected to be referred to the courthouse after their procedures are completed.
