The influenza virus, which has increased with the cooling weather, can cause serious health problems, especially in people in the risk group. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gerek recommended rest and fluid consumption for complaints not exceeding one week, and warned that expert physicians should be consulted if symptoms persist.

The influenza virus can pose a fatal risk in risk groups such as the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, those receiving cancer treatment, pregnant women, and children under 5 years of age. Stating that approximately 500,000 people worldwide lost their lives due to flu infections last year, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gerek emphasized that the virus should not be taken lightly.

Stating that resting during the flu process, limiting contact with the environment to prevent transmission, and consuming sufficient fluids are important, Gerek noted that if complaints increase towards the end of the first week, an ear, nose and throat or chest diseases physician should be consulted.
