Food prices at IGA Istanbul Airport outpace European airports
Fast food menu prices at IGA Istanbul Airport are approaching the 3,000 TL mark, surpassing the costs of similar options at major European airports such as Paris, Frankfurt, and London.
The fact that menu prices at a fast food establishment located in IGA Istanbul Airport are pushing the limit of 3,000 TL has brought price comparisons with major airports in Europe to the forefront. According to calculations based on the Euro exchange rate of 55.71 TL, the highest-priced menu at the establishment exceeds 53 Euros, while the lowest options hover around 28 Euros.
According to the price list at the establishment, the 'Full Mix Menu' was set at 2,995 TL (53.76 Euros), the 'Super Menu' at 2,930 TL (52.59 Euros), the 'Crazy Wrap Dessert Menu' at 2,635 TL (47.30 Euros), the 'Chicken Döner İskender Menu' at 2,140 TL (38.41 Euros), and the 'Tombik Döner Menu' at 1,570 TL (28.18 Euros).
Comparative analyses show that a menu for two at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is approximately 1,398 TL (25.10 Euros), and a chicken schnitzel menu at Frankfurt Airport is 1,331 TL (23.90 Euros). At London Heathrow Airport, similar menus are stated to range between 390 TL and 780 TL (7-14 Euros).
Considering the minimum wage in Turkey, which is 28,075 TL, the fact that a single-person menu at the airport reaches 3,000 TL reveals that this amount corresponds to more than 10 percent of the monthly minimum wage.
