Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made evaluations to members of the press on global crises and regional developments following the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. Fidan announced that due to an impasse in the election process, Turkey has officially nominated experienced diplomat Feridun Sinirlioğlu for the United Nations Secretary-General position.

Following the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made statements regarding global crises, energy shortages, supply chain problems, and the Russia-Ukraine War. Stating that he held bilateral meetings during the summit with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, host country officials, and representatives of numerous countries, Fidan emphasized that the wars have dealt a heavy blow to the world economy and stated that Russia and Ukraine must reach an agreement. He also conveyed that the conflict between the U.S. and Iran, as well as trade disruptions in the Black Sea and the Red Sea, must be urgently resolved in terms of food security.

Fidan stated that although it is Latin America's turn in the UN Secretary-General election process, no progress has been made among the candidates and an impasse has been reached. Explaining that Turkey has officially nominated Feridun Sinirlioğlu with a letter signed by the President in order to contribute to overcoming this deadlock, Fidan noted that Sinirlioğlu is an experienced career diplomat who has previously served as the UN permanent representative and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
