Former US Representatives Scott Klug and William Enyart visited Macalester College on Monday, October 19, 2026, as part of the national Congress to Campus program. The event, held at Mairs Concert Hall inside the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, addressed the role of the United States in global affairs.

The event, featuring former Wisconsin Republican Representative Scott Klug and former Illinois Democratic Representative William Enyart, took place as a moderated conversation led by students Tani Gangal, Rohini Chatwani, and Sihaam Barre. Topics such as military intervention, executive power, and political polarization were discussed during the conversation.

Both representatives underscored the need for nuance, historical context, and cross-partisan dialogue in the policymaking process, arguing that domestic and foreign policies are deeply interconnected. The speakers stated that democracy relies on the ability to respectfully disagree across political differences.
