Garanti BBVA CEO’su Akten: Fon krizinin bankacılık sektörüne şu ana kadar etkisi olmadı

Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten stated that the impact of the fund crisis has not yet been reflected on the banking sector and announced that foreign investor interest in Turkey continues.

Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten answered Bloomberg HT's questions and stated that Turkey maintains its investment appeal thanks to its young population, large and growing economy, and proximity to Europe. Akten emphasized that considering the economic difficulties in the US and Europe as well as the war environment in the Middle East, the number of countries similar in size to Turkey is limited, with Turkey, Mexico, and Brazil standing out in this field.

Stating that funding provided from abroad does not only take place through banks, but financing directly targeting companies and projects has also increased recently, Akten noted that loans extended within this scope can be bought and sold, and there is interest in liquid financial instruments. Stating that although the fund issue looks complicated from the outside, it has no effect on the sector in the general picture, Akten expressed that positive elements such as the drop in inflation in Turkey and the economic course are reasons for preference among global investors.
