Global progress must 'truly serve the human person,' nuncio tells major interfaith forum

Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, stated in his opening address at the G20 Interfaith Forum held in Salt Lake City, Utah, that global progress, economic growth, energy security, and artificial intelligence must truly serve the human person.

The G20 Interfaith Forum, held in Utah and noted as the largest gathering of faiths in the state's history, began on October 15, 2026, at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia reminded attendees that G20 leaders meeting in Miami in December will address critical issues such as economic growth, energy security, and artificial intelligence, emphasizing that all these processes must prioritize the common denominator and human dignity.

The forum sessions focused on themes including economic growth for the common good, energy security for a sustainable future, artificial intelligence and the future of humanity, and interfaith engagement with UN sustainable development goals. The event also shared messages sent by President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, and Cardinal Pietro Parolin on behalf of Pope Leo XIV with the participants.
