Google Gemini Assistant Now Available to Apple CarPlay Users
Google has introduced its AI assistant, Gemini, to Apple CarPlay users, enabling a voice-activated and hands-free experience through Google Maps.
Following its Android Auto integration, Google is bringing its AI-powered conversational assistant, Gemini, to Apple CarPlay users. Through the Gemini assistant within Google Maps, drivers can receive hands-free assistance via voice commands during their journeys.
According to Google's announcement, the conversational Gemini navigation support is initially being rolled out to drivers in the U.S., with a global expansion process also underway. Users can activate this feature by tapping the Gemini icon within the Google Maps application on their in-car infotainment screen.
The system can provide voice-based responses for driving-related needs such as avoiding toll roads, route suggestions, and answering multi-step questions. Furthermore, Google states that this feature offers a conversational method for reporting traffic disruptions and finding information about stops and locations along the route. On the other hand, no information was shared regarding whether the Personal Intelligence features previously announced for Android Auto and Google built-in vehicles will be included in this version.
