The Greek Parliament has approved the legislation banning the use of social media by children under 15 years of age. Approved by the majority of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's government, the law will enter into force as of January 1, 2027.

With the new regulation adopted in the Greek Parliament, social media use is banned for children under 15, while age verification is made mandatory for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Standing as one of the first comprehensive steps in this area among European Union countries, the law stipulates that companies failing to comply with the rules may face fines under the EU's Digital Services Act. During the implementation process, parents will be required to use the Kids Wallet or Gov.gr applications, which can be paired with their children's devices.
