The provision of institutional access to the Claude artificial intelligence platform, developed by Anthropic, to its students by the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences this summer term has initiated a new era in academic and personal projects within the university.

In line with the decision announced in April, Claude was added to the university's portfolio of artificial intelligence tools while the scope of ChatGPT Edu access was narrowed. Students are actively using Claude for their academic assignments in courses such as 'Foundations of NeuroAI' and 'Letting Claude Cook', taught by Douglas P. Finkbeiner.

Going beyond academic use, students are also turning to this tool for personal projects such as building weather tracking websites or working on racing boat club models. Some students state that they prefer Claude over other large language models due to the connection they feel with Anthropic's corporate values and leadership approach.
