Health Issues and Specialist Physician Shortage in Diyarbakır Brought to Parliament
The shortage of specialist physicians in public hospitals, the teleradiology application, and earthquake-damaged health centers in the city have been brought to Parliament.
DEM Party Diyarbakır Deputy Sevilay Çelenk has brought the shortage of specialist physicians in public hospitals in the city, remote reporting via the teleradiology method, and the situation of family health centers damaged in the earthquake to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with a request for an answer by the Ministry of Health.
Health Issues in Parliament
DEM Party Diyarbakır Deputy Sevilay Çelenk has brought the health problems experienced in public hospitals in Diyarbakır to the parliamentary agenda.
The parliamentary question, prepared as a result of joint work with the Diyarbakır Medical Chamber Board of Directors, was submitted to Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu.
Concerns Regarding the Teleradiology Application
It was stated that external teleradiology services are procured for MRI and CT scans due to the lack of radiology specialists in some public hospitals.
Emphasizing that this practice may lead to delays in diagnosis, company payments and audit mechanisms were asked of the Ministry.
Specialist Physician Shortage and Workload
It was stated that there is a severe shortage of specialist physicians in branches such as pediatric neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, ear, nose, and throat, and dermatology.
It was conveyed that due to deficiencies in the districts, citizens are directed to the centers, and this situation reduces examination times to under five minutes.
Earthquake-Damaged Family Health Centers
In the parliamentary question, the current status of family health centers that were destroyed, damaged, or relocated during the February 6, 2023 earthquakes was brought to the agenda.
The presence of centers still serving in temporary buildings and new plans made for regions with growing populations were questioned.
