Sixty-year-old healthcare worker Semiha Çınar, who applied to the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Center (KETEM) for a routine cancer screening in Bolu, overcame breast cancer detected at an early stage without receiving chemotherapy.
Semiha Çınar, a 60-year-old employee at Bolu İzzet Baysal Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Training and Research Hospital, applied to KETEM in April 2021. A suspicious finding was detected in Çınar's mammogram taken at the center, even though she had no complaints. Directed to Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University İzzet Baysal Education and Research Hospital, Çınar was diagnosed with breast cancer as a result of a biopsy performed on her.
Having been operated on in June of the same year upon the early detection of the disease, Çınar subsequently received radiotherapy. Completing her treatment process without receiving chemotherapy and continuing her check-ups with drug therapy, Çınar drew attention to the importance of screening. Bolu KETEM Responsible Physician Atike Geliş stated that free mammography screenings are performed every two years for women aged 40-69, emphasizing the importance of health literacy and early diagnosis awareness.
