Herd grows at dwarf goat farm established for hobby purposes in Ankara
The number of animals at the facility, established with Nigerian dwarf goats brought from different provinces of Turkey, has reached 90, with a target of increasing it to 250.
The herd size in the dwarf goat breeding initiative, which started as a hobby with two goats in the village of Çanıllı in Ankara's Ayaş district, has reached 90.
Murat Özgüden, the owner of the dwarf goat farm operating in the village of Çanıllı in Ankara's Ayaş district, reported that they continue their breeding activities with 90 Nigerian dwarf goats sourced from various provinces of Turkey. It was stated that the facility, which houses animals that attract attention with their cute appearances and lively structures, is the first production farm in Ankara and carries out the most intensive production in Turkey.
Farm owner Murat Özgüden noted that the main differences of dwarf goats from normal goats are that they are shorter in height, can give birth to triplets or quadruplets, and approach humans more affectionately. It was conveyed that these animals, which have an average height difference of 30-35 centimeters compared to other goats, can reach height measurements of 40-45 centimeters for females and 50-55 centimeters for males.
Stating that there is a very high demand for dwarf goats across Turkey, Özgüden noted that there are similar farms in a few cities in the country. The entrepreneur announced that they aim to increase the current herd size to a range of 200 to 250.
