Historic Record Broken in Global Cyber Attacks in the First Half of 2026
According to the Clusit report, global cyber attacks increased by 71 percent in the first half of 2026, reaching 4,911 and breaking a record.
According to the report published by Italy-based Clusit, 4,911 serious cyber incidents were recorded worldwide in the first half of 2026. While this figure was recorded as the highest number of cases detected by the organization in a single half-year, the number of attacks increased by 71 percent compared to the same period in 2025.
The report stated that cybercrimes are increasingly carried out with financial motivations and that artificial intelligence-supported attack methods raise the threat level. Institution executives emphasized that businesses should view cybersecurity as one of the fundamental elements of corporate sustainability.
Although a decrease in total case numbers was observed in some regions where strict cybersecurity regulations are implemented, it was reported that high-risk attacks targeting critical infrastructure increased by 20 percent. It was noted that the most frequently used method in organized attacks was malware at a rate of 43 percent.
