İnan Altınbaş's defense in fund investigation: He pointed to his brother
The defense of Altınbaş Holding Chairman İnan Altınbaş, who was arrested in the fund investigation in Istanbul, has emerged. Altınbaş denied the allegations, pointing to his brother Nusret Altınbaş, the owner of Atlas Portföy.
The court defense of İnan Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Altınbaş Holding A.Ş., who was arrested in the fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has come to light. Altınbaş pointed to his brother Nusret Altınbaş, the owner of Atlas Portföy, arguing that his brother's business did not concern him.
In the fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau for Investigation of Financing of Terrorism and Laundering Crimes, 15 suspects, including İnan Altınbaş, were arrested, while the fugitive Nusret Altınbaş surrendered to security forces. It was determined that 16 billion lira had been withdrawn from Atlas Portföy funds within Aynus Holding before the fund crisis broke out in September. The 64-year-old İnan Altınbaş, who was arrested for the crime of laundering assets resulting from crime, stated that he is a jeweler with a monthly income of 750,000 lira. Expressing that he has no account or money in the fund and is only involved in the investigation due to Atlas Portföy, which is owned by his brother, Altınbaş denied the charges and noted that he wanted to contribute to compensating for the loss incurred.
His lawyer, Umut Metin, who took the floor during the hearing, argued that his client is one of Turkey's wealthiest people and the owner of Altınbaş Holding, while 56-year-old Nusret Altınbaş manages his own company, and therefore the work done by the brother does not bind his client. On the other hand, within the scope of the fund investigation, 2 billion lira was deposited into SDIF (TMSF) accounts by A1 Capital and Pardus as part of voluntary payments; thus, the total amount repaid reached 12 billion 300 million lira.
