Details of the New Installment Regulation
The Ministry of Trade took new steps within the framework of its authority to regulate retail businesses' installment sales to consumers. According to this announcement, regulations compatible with the decisions of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency were implemented.
With the regulation amendment published in the October 15 issue of the Official Gazette, the installment limit for brand-new mobile phone sales, which was previously 20 thousand lira, was increased. Within this scope, the limit was raised to 40 thousand lira.
Maturity Limits According to Price Ranges
According to the new regulation, consumers were granted a 12-month installment period for mobile phones priced at 40 thousand lira and below. Thus, payment convenience was provided for mid-segment devices.
For mobile phones priced above 40 thousand lira, existing practices were maintained. In these product groups, the 3-month maturity limit was preserved, ensuring sustainability in implementation.
Renewed Products and Other Sectors
For mobile phone sales possessing the nature of renewed products, a 12-month maturity option was offered to consumers without observing any amount limit.
On the other hand, no changes were made to the installment amounts or maturity limits for electronic goods, tablet computers, televisions, home appliances, furniture, domestic tourism, travel expenses, vehicles, and jewelry sales.
