Intel and SAP launched a collaboration to unite enterprise information technologies with operational technology, which controls physical equipment and processes, via Physical AI.

Intel and SAP conducted a proof-of-concept (PoC) study that automates warehouse material management. This system connects SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) business context and workflow optimization with Intel-powered edge AI hardware and robotics software.

Requests initiated through SAP EWM are transmitted to autonomous robots utilizing Intel's hardware and software, creating a closed loop between enterprise workflows and physical execution. Operational improvements such as shortened transport distances and reduced repetitive manual tasks were observed during the study.

Intel Vice President and General Manager of Industry and Robotics John Healy, and Dr. Lukasz Ostrowski, Head of Physical AI and Robotics for SAP Research and Innovation, highlighted how this collaboration connects enterprise systems with operational technology.
