An official investigation was launched into Sözcü TV anchor Serap Belovacıklı on the grounds of expressions she used in a post on her social media account.

It was stated that the ongoing investigation is being handled within the framework of Article 216, paragraph 2 of the Turkish Penal Code.

Legal Process and Statements

The anchor's lawyer, Hüseyin Uğur Poyraz, provided public information regarding the process conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Lawyer Poyraz emphasized that his client does not accept the accusations contained in the relevant article and that her statements did not target the Turkish nation.

Deletion of the Post and Defense

In a statement made via her X account, Serap Belovacıklı stated that she had responded to an individual who insulted her, but realizing that the tone she used did not befit her, she removed the post shortly afterwards.

Belovacıklı expressed that she will go to the prosecutor's office to give a statement regarding the process that led to the investigation being opened against her.

Counter-Criminal Complaint

Following the events, Serap Belovacıklı announced that she will file a criminal complaint against Ömer Okumuş, who hurled severe insults at her via social media.
