Evaluating recent developments in the markets, Takvim Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Faruk Erdem stated that rising oil prices, inflation risks, and expectations of interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) are putting pressure on gold prices.

In his assessment during a live broadcast on A Haber, Takvim Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Faruk Erdem stated that the rise in oil prices is suppressing gold prices. Erdem noted that oil prices hovering above $100 and the potential for a Fed interest rate hike are creating pressure on gold, leading investors to shift toward government bonds and causing gold to move away from its status as a safe haven.

On the other hand, stating that expectations regarding the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (TCMB) interest rate decision are supporting the rise in Borsa Istanbul, Erdem expressed that there is an expectation of a 100 to 150 basis point interest rate cut at the meeting.
