IQGeo CEO Mike Woods Aims to Move Network Records to AI
Mike Woods, the new CEO of geospatial software company IQGeo, plans to transition telecommunications operators from paper and spreadsheet records to AI-powered autonomous network infrastructures.
Mike Woods, who took over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of geospatial software developer IQGeo on October 5, has set a priority goal of liberating network operators' physical infrastructure data from paper and spreadsheets to make it AI-compatible.
Data Management Issues in the Industry and Research Results
The 2026 Ground Truth research, conducted by IQGeo in collaboration with Vanson Bourne among 500 senior telecommunications executives in the US, Canada, and the UK, reveals the need for digital transformation in the industry. 24 percent of participants still rely on spreadsheets, CAD systems, or paper records to manage their physical networks.
While more than half of the participants stated they keep their data in multiple systems, all participants reported experiencing commercial setbacks due to inaccurate physical network data in the last 12 months. In contrast, 63 percent of executives expect their data and systems to reach the maturity to support fully autonomous networks by 2030.
Global Customer Portfolio and Efficiency Increase
Serving more than 500 customers in fiber, copper, and infrastructure networks worldwide, IQGeo works with companies such as Deutsche Telekom, Virgin Media O2, Swisscom, Brightspeed, Conterra Networks, Lightpath, and SaskTel. For example, Deutsche Telekom managed to reduce total planning time by 75 percent thanks to IQGeo's Comsof Fiber planning software.
Mike Woods, who took over the leadership of IQGeo from Noel Goggin, previously served as Senior Vice President for North America Communications, Media, and Technology at CSG. Succeeding Goggin, who continues his role as chairman of the board at the company, Woods aims to accelerate operators' transition to AI infrastructure.
