Iran calls on US for 7-day program regarding Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that the decision now rests with Washington following the 7-day program they presented to the US to normalize navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Baghdad that they have conveyed a program to the US via Qatar to open the Strait of Hormuz and ensure maritime security.
Stating that the ball is now in the US court following the seven-day program they presented, Araghchi said, "The choice is now the US's." Emphasizing that maritime security cannot be achieved through military pressure, blockades, or threats, Araghchi noted that past mistakes should not be repeated.
Reiterating that Iran will continue to protect its sovereign rights and the interests of its people, the Minister underscored that regional security can only be established through the cooperation of regional countries.
