Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi Makes Statement on Strait of Hormuz Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated during a joint press conference in Tehran with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that regional issues should be resolved through diplomacy, holding the United States responsible for the insecurity and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Tehran. Speaking at a joint press conference held on Monday, Araghchi emphasized that regional matters must be addressed through dialogue. He stated that the US is behind the current tensions and environment of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz.

Stating that regional countries should establish a joint security arrangement without the intervention of foreign powers, Araghchi noted that they welcome any initiative that provides security from within without the presence of external powers and consider it a step in the right direction.
