Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich made evaluations regarding Turkey's military capacity and regional balances in a broadcast he attended. Smotrich stated that Turkey has a very large navy and that the reflections of this must be analyzed, and argued that the alliance with Greece should be strengthened against Turkey, Pakistan, and other countries that are against Israel.
Stating that the Tel Aviv administration needs to develop different military capabilities against surrounding states, Smotrich listed Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, and Syria, claiming that Israel must make separate preparations against each country. Emphasizing that Israel must increase its military power, the minister expressed that his country should possess not only technological superiority but also the capacity to sustain a long-term conflict on its own.
Smotrich also touched upon the close relationship between US President Donald Trump and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his statements. Arguing that Trump's friendship with Erdogan poses a major challenge for Israel, Smotrich noted that Washington must protect Israel's qualitative military superiority and that they are also working to prevent agreements that could be contrary to Israel's interests.
