Kocaeli Culture Council gathers to determine the city's artistic future
Led by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, the council will discuss the city's cultural goals and a 5-10 year roadmap with the participation of approximately 250 representatives.
The Kocaeli Culture Council will be held on October 20, 2026, at the Kocaeli Congress Center, in collaboration with the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and the ŞURA Center for Urban Policies and Research.
The event, which will bring together approximately 250 representatives from the public sector, academia, civil society, and the arts and culture world, will evaluate the city's cultural needs and priorities. The opening speech of the program, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Kocaeli Governorship, universities, and professional chambers, will be delivered by poet and author Prof. Dr. Nurullah Genç.
The council aims to increase access to art for children, youth, women, and individuals with disabilities, support local artists, and expand cultural activities. Strengthening the city's cultural visibility through digital tools is also among the agenda items.
At the end of the event, it is planned to share a report containing short, medium, and long-term implementation plans, as well as a coordination model to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, with the relevant institutions.
