At the 4th Culture Meetings organized by the DAĞDER Nilüfer Branch, the deep-rooted history, forgotten traditions, and folk music of the Bursa Mountain Region were discussed, with an emphasis on the need to protect cultural heritage.
The 4th Culture Meetings organized by the DAĞDER Nilüfer Branch brought together important representatives and figures of the local culture. Educator-Writer Mustafa Doğru moderated the program, while Educator-Writer Özer Güleç and folk poet and researcher-writer Menteşeli Cengiz participated as speakers. During the program, it was underlined that the cultural values of the Mountain Region must be protected and transferred to future generations in their original form.
Özer Güleç stated that young men's rooms ("delikanlı odaları") are important educational environments that instill respect, love, solidarity, and hospitality in youth. Folk poet Menteşeli Cengiz criticized women performing men's dances, stating that this constitutes an example of cultural corruption. Additionally, attention was drawn to the fact that there is no tradition in the region called "Şalvar Night" ("Şalvar Gecesi"), and reaction was expressed against presenting such events for commercial purposes in a way contrary to the culture. The night continued with local folk songs performed by Menteşeli Cengiz.
