As the artificial intelligence boom continues unabated, pioneers of the semiconductor industry are drawing attention. Following ASML Holding and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Lumentum Holdings is also preparing to announce its financial results in November.

Designing high-speed optical networking components, data center connectivity solutions, and optical switches, Lumentum Holdings plays a critical role in accelerating massive data flows within AI data center clusters. The company will announce its fiscal 2027 first-quarter results on November 5 after the market closes.

Intense demand for optical networking components stands out as one of the new bottlenecks in the industry. According to estimates by consulting giant McKinsey, high-speed optical transceiver production could fall well short of demand by 2029. While analysts expect Lumentum's revenue in the previous quarter to increase by 135 percent year-over-year to $1.25 billion, adjusted earnings per share are projected to surge by 284 percent to $4.22.

According to Goldman Sachs data, optical network revenues are estimated to rise from $15 billion in 2026 to $154 billion in 2028. Lumentum aims to capitalize on this opportunity by increasing its 1.6T transceiver production in 2027. Company shares have lost 19 percent of their value since October 9, presenting a buying opportunity ahead of the earnings report.
