Margin Narrows Ahead of Brazil's Presidential Runoff Election
A recent poll by Datafolha has revealed that the gap between candidates in Brazil's election race has decreased.
The latest poll conducted ahead of the presidential runoff election in Brazil on October 25 showed that the vote gap between Senator Flavio Bolsonaro and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has narrowed.
Poll Results and Vote Shares
According to the poll results published on Thursday by the research company Datafolha, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, holds 47 percent of the vote.
Incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva follows his opponent with 45 percent of the vote. In last week's poll, Flavio Bolsonaro stood at 49 percent and Lula at 45 percent.
Statistical Data and Distribution
The survey results indicate that a technical tie continues between the two candidates when considering a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
While 6 percent of participants stated they would cast blank or spoiled ballots, the rate of undecided voters was measured at 2 percent. Excluding spoiled and undecided votes, Bolsonaro reaches 51 percent and Lula reaches 49 percent.
