Mem û Zîn Epic Released with Classical Orchestra Arrangement
Journalist and director Zafer Avnaş brought the work "MEMÊ ALAN" to life by adapting Ehmedê Xanî's epic Mem û Zîn into a classical orchestra form with the support of artificial intelligence.
Journalist and director Zafer Avnaş released a work titled "MEMÊ ALAN" by adapting Mem û Zîn, one of the cornerstones of Kurdish literature by Ehmedê Xanî, into a classical orchestra arrangement with the help of artificial intelligence support. Bringing together the traditional dengbêj tradition with the polyphonic structure of classical music, this project offers a different interpretation inspired by the performances of Cemîl Horo and Eyşe Şan.
While preparing the work, Zafer Avnaş stated that he acted from the question, "If Kurds had the orchestral possibilities of classical music in those periods, what kind of Kurdish music would we be talking about today?" While it was stated that artificial intelligence technology was used to try out musical possibilities that did not happen in the past, it was noted that the essence of traditional Kurdish music was preserved. The musical and visual production activities of the project were undertaken by ONE REC.
