Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the model's weights have been released and that, thanks to joint work with Apple, it runs great on the new Mac Studio devices.
Technical Details and Hardware Compatibility
The new model can be efficiently run on the desktop across two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios using the latest MLX framework infrastructure.
Apple CEO John Ternus stated that it is exciting to run AI of this caliber and scale directly from the desktop, and that the Mac Studio continues to push boundaries.
Multimodal Structure and Capabilities
Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, emphasized that the two companies have been collaborating for months. With a total of 816 billion parameters, this natively multimodal model demonstrates high success in long-horizon tasks, complex software engineering, and multi-step reasoning.
