Meta and OpenAI's AI Assistants Take Over Daily Tasks
Meta's Muse and OpenAI's dots applications are sparking a new competition in the digital assistant space by performing complex tasks on behalf of users, such as restaurant reservations, job applications, and meal planning.
Meta's Muse and OpenAI's dots AI assistants have begun autonomously performing complex daily tasks by utilizing users' devices and web browsers.
Launched last month and quickly becoming one of the most downloaded applications, Meta's Muse assistant is drawing attention for its ability to perform actions on behalf of users. OpenAI has released a competing assistant called dots, which operates with a $100 monthly subscription fee. It is also reported that Anthropic is conducting tests on a similar assistant named Duet.
In a two-week test conducted by technology writer Brian X. Chen, the performance of these assistants was examined in five different areas: restaurant reservations, creating exercise schedules, rapid job applications, meal planning, and product negotiation. Alexander Embiricos, a product manager at OpenAI, stated that dots was initially designed for challenging tasks such as managing the workflows of freelancers and is expected to become free after the testing process.
