Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made significant statements regarding the foreign policy agenda at his party's group meeting held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Bahçeli strongly reacted to the attacks carried out by the Houthis in Yemen against Saudi Arabia.

Deterrent Power and Defense Commitments

Stating that deterrent power should be activated if diplomatic initiatives yield no results, Bahçeli demanded that opportunities be provided for Turkey to extend all kinds of military support for the defense of Saudi Arabia. He expressed that defense agreements would be adhered to in the face of threats directed at Saudi Arabia's sovereignty.

Warnings Regarding Relations with Greece and Israel

Addressing the rapprochement between Greece and Israel as well as electrical interconnection projects in his speech, MHP leader Bahçeli stated that Greece will not feel secure as long as it fails to recognize Turkey's rights and the sovereignty of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
