Miami woman breaks barriers by becoming a top leader in legal world, but leadership is about more than titles

Growing up in Miami as the child of a Cuban immigrant family and as a first-generation college graduate, Yvette Ostolaza has made history as the first Hispanic person to lead one of the top 20 law firms in the country by revenue.

The daughter of an immigrant family who arrived in Miami as a child under Operation Pedro Pan, Yvette Ostolaza grew up in the Grapeland Heights neighborhood where a university education was not always guaranteed. Graduating from the University of Miami with two degrees, Ostolaza manages the global law firm Sidley, provides pro bono legal services, and supports community organizations including Miami's Orange Bowl Committee. Sidley Miami Co-Managing Partner Beatriz Azcuy stated that Ostolaza is a fierce advocate and role model not only for her clients but for humanity around her. Emphasizing that her family played a major role in her success, Ostolaza expressed that she will continue to mentor the next generation of lawyers and contribute to society.
