Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Addresses Yankees Comments

Following backlash over controversial remarks he made to first baseman Jake Bauers after the 2026 World Series victory, Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy called New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman to explain the situation.

In footage captured after the Milwaukee Brewers' 2026 World Series victory, Pat Murphy's remarks directed at first baseman Jake Bauers had drawn criticism from fans. Murphy had told Bauers, "You're going to be a rich son of a b----. When you're on that horse manure Yankees team and you're all playing just for yourselves, remember this is the way we do things."

Following the backlash, Pat Murphy stated that he spoke with New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman the following morning. Murphy explained that he conveyed to Cashman that his remarks did not target the 2026 Yankees team, but rather used the Yankees name as an abstract concept representing teams featuring high-paid players with long-term contracts.
