Ministry of Trade Imposes 28 Thousand Liras Fine for Misleading Real Estate Listing
The Ministry of Trade imposed an administrative fine on a business after it was understood that the amount shown as 2 million liras in a real estate listing was not the entire apartment, but only the down payment.
Within the scope of its inspections targeting real estate listings that mislead consumers, the Ministry of Trade issued an administrative fine of 28 thousand 620 liras to a business, after it was determined that the 2 million lira amount in its listing was not the sales price of the apartment, but only the down payment.
It was reported that in a real estate listing on a platform commonly known in public as the yellow site, the price was shown as 2 million liras, but when a citizen contacted the business, it was understood that this figure was not the entire apartment, but only the down payment. Upon the consumer's report, an investigation was launched by the General Directorate of Internal Trade, Department of Sectoral Trade and Chattel Pledge.
As a result of the investigations carried out, an administrative fine of 28 thousand 620 liras was applied to the relevant business due to this misleading listing for consumers. The Ministry noted that inspections and administrative sanctions regarding other listing owners who similarly misdirect citizens in the same region are ongoing.
