In the armed attack at Silver Rail Elementary School in Oregon, USA, which claimed the lives of three children and a teacher, it was reported that the 12-gauge pump-action shotgun used by the 16-year-old attacker was purchased as a birthday gift by his mother, Shauntai Nickerson.

It was stated that 16-year-old Griffin J. John II, who carried out the shooting last week at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, killing three children and a teacher, received the Maverick 88 12-gauge pump-action shotgun used in the incident as a gift from his mother. According to reports based on sources, mother Shauntai Nickerson legally purchased the gun in August and gifted it to her son for recreational use.

The attacker, previously noted as a special education student at the same school, shot through locked glass doors to gain entry last Thursday. In the classroom, 5-year-old Rhoam Summer, two children aged 8 and 11, and 25-year-old teacher Megan Lambert lost their lives, while one student and one teacher were injured. A 36-year-old citizen named Kaylub Giamanco, who was at the scene and whose two children also attend the same school, shot and neutralized the attacker.
