Neil Young sues for the second time over Trump’s use of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’

Musician Neil Young has initiated a $10 million copyright infringement lawsuit in a Virginia federal court against Donald Trump for the unauthorized use of his song "Rockin' in the Free World" at campaign events. This development marks the second lawsuit Young has filed against Trump regarding the use of his music.

The lawsuit states that the song was used at various events, including a rally in Ohio. Young's attorneys argue that any association of the artist with Donald Trump damages his brand value and reputation. It is emphasized that the lyrics of the song reflect the exact opposite of the values represented by Trump.

Neil Young previously filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign in 2020 for similar reasons, a process that ended in a settlement shortly after. The Trump 47 Committee and the Republican National Committee have not yet responded to the matter. Similarly, other artists such as Kesha, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter have also expressed their opposition to the unauthorized use of their music.
